BALLSTON SPA – The Saratoga County Historical Society will begin a much-anticipated restoration project. This month, Mid-State Industries will begin work restoring the building’s foundation. Old Saratoga Restorations has also agreed to donate services for some of the masonry work. SCHS has been awarded grants from the N.Y. State Council on the Arts and Saratoga County, in addition to receiving individual donations earmarked for the project.

Brookside, 6 Charlton St., built in 1792 as a hotel, currently houses the Saratoga County Historical Society. It is not only one of the oldest buildings in Ballston Spa, but is possibly the oldest standing hotel in the country.

Old Saratoga Restorations donated services to repair the masonry on the 1792 Brookside Museum, located in what may be the oldest hotel in the United States.
